Sussex

Founded by vibraphonist Michael Emenau and singer-songwriter Rob Lutes in 2014, Sussex released its debut album Parade Day in January 2016. Featuring a unique mix of instruments—and some Canada’s finest players—on 11 originals and Randy Newman’s “Dayton, Ohio - 1903,” the album is an exciting journey to a musical territory where folk, blues, jazz and ragtime meld into an exhilarating new kind of roots.

‟Whether or not veteran blues/roots performer Rob Lutes and jazz vibraphonist Michael Emenau set out to create something totally new is beside the point; they did. This is new. I want more.” Bob Mersereau, CBC, Top100 Blogspot

"...a truly great evening...energy, intricacy, texture, nuance, expressiveness, and power, but all with great subtlety. Suffice to say, a great show."
- Thom Meredith, Sainte-Anne Blues Cafe
